It was the same every single day. Children played outside, smiling, laughing, and having fun with each other. The sun shone bright against the elegant-blue, cloudless sky overhead. Everything was perfect.

Staring at the perfect scene, a young girl, no older then fifteen, sat in a elegantly carved, wooden chair. Her legs curled up to her chest, resting her chin on her legs, her arms draped around them. It all seemed so distant for her. Laughing, smiling, and having fun….how great it used to be. Tears fell from her eyes and down her face, turning everything into a mixture of colors, everything was now a unfocused blur.

She picked up one of her arms and wiped her eyes, trying to get rid of her tears. Why couldn’t she be like one of those kids? Playing with each other, having friends and family, be able to be normal. Not like that would ever happen though, she would never be normal again. Especially not after it happened.

Taryn it’s okay,” her mother said, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder, sitting down next to her. “No one can be sad forever. Things go wrong so we learn to appreciate all the good things life has to offer.”

What happened was bad…very bad. But how could she learn to appreciate life when she lost hers to begin with?

3 WEEKS AGO:

Mom why can’t I go?” Taryn complained, throwing her arms up in the air for dramatic effect.

Because I said so and that’s final!” her mother exclaimed and turned around, walking back towards the kitchen.

Stupid effing mom,” she grumbled and stormed off towards her room.

Everything had gotten worse since she had become a teenager. Her parents had become strict (and occasionally mean) and now were barely ever home. They treated her as if she was mentally retarded or as if she could so everything on her own, which they should have known she wasn’t. She began to in to fights with her mom. That had never happened before in her life. And when she was fourteen her father was put in jail. Murder… Cold blooded murder, was his charge. Found guilty he was sentenced to jail for the rest of his life. If it wasn’t for the deal he made with the opposing D.A. The price would have been much worse. After her mom kept a close watch on her, being careful Taryn didn’t turn out like her father did.

Mom do you hate me?” her five year old voice squeaked.

Why Taryn,” her mother looked at her with loving eyes. “I could never… I would never be able to hate you…. You are my daughter after all and all mommies love their daughters right?”

Right mommy,” she said and hugged her mom tightly.

Taryn slammed her bedroom door shut as she entered her large room. Her eyes turned blood-shot red, she had no idea why though. Almost breaking down into tears, her mind jumped. Everything she had ever thought had broken loose, all her memories…everything she had wanted to forget. Seeing her father being accused of homicide and seeing him being sent to jail, having to testify him and that look in his eye when she was in the stand…it was horrible. She had now lost all traces of sanity.

She gabbed her cell phone and her backpack, quickly stuffing in a few snacks, five water bottles and a extra few pairs of clothes. She didn’t need anything else. She then climbed out of her window. Opening the car door, she quickly shut it behind her. Illegally she turned the car on and backed out of the driveway, driving away. So far so good. She then came to a stop light. Blinded by her won tears, she couldn’t see anything. A blur of red clouded her vision and a sudden slamming of breaks caught her attention. She felt her head fly forward, her eyes bobbing out of her head, blood flying from her mouth. Her face hit the air bag…hard. Closing her eyes, black was all that was left…

I’m sorry miss..” A voice echoed from somewhere far off. “She not gonna make it…”

And then everything fell silent, black was surrounding her and she let it over take her again.

I’m sorry…”

Your forgiven…”

We miss you…”

I miss you…”

I love you Tary…”

I love you too…”

“I need you….”

 “I need you too…”
